Coldharbour
One of our favourite local spots.Coldharbour Farm Shop & Field Kitchen is brilliant for breakfast or lunch, and their summer evenings are well worth catching too. Think wood-fired food, drinks, relaxed evenings and live music in the East Devon countryside.
Heron Farm
Go for breakfast. Get the avocado on toast.Heron Farm near Honiton is a vineyard, restaurant and countryside spot that's perfect for a slower morning. Our personal recommendation? The avocado on toast — easily one of our favourite breakfasts nearby.
THE PIG-at Combe
When you fancy making an evening of it.Head to THE PIG-at Combe for dinner, drinks, gardens and a proper countryside evening out. They also run live music and seasonal events, making it a great option when you want something a little more special.
Hare & Hounds
Proper Devon pub, close to Forest Edge.A traditional East Devon country pub at Putts Corner, between Sidmouth and Honiton. Think local ales, pub food, log fires and an easy option when you don't want to venture far.

Beach morning, country walk, family day out or a wander around Exeter — there's plenty nearby without turning your break into a military operation.
Sidmouth & the Jurassic Coast
Head into Sidmouth for the beach, seafront, independent shops and cafés, then continue towards Jacob's Ladder or onto the South West Coast Path.
Woodland & coastal walks
Explore quiet East Devon countryside or head towards Sidmouth for woodland, cliff-top paths and routes through the Sid Valley and along the Jurassic Coast.
The Donkey Sanctuary
The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth is one of the area's best-known family attractions, with hundreds of resident donkeys and plenty to explore around the sanctuary.
Ottery St Mary
Explore one of East Devon's historic market towns, pick up local supplies or visit during one of its famous events — including the legendary November Tar Barrels.
Honiton
A traditional Devon market town known for independent shops, cafés and antiques — and an easy place to combine with breakfast or lunch at Heron Farm.
Exeter
Head into Exeter for shopping, restaurants, the historic Cathedral, Underground Passages and the Quayside — then come back to the quiet countryside afterwards.

Beautiful Days
The independent music festival at nearby Escot Park is one of the biggest weekends in the local calendar. If you're coming for Beautiful Days, stay nearby at Forest Edge and make a proper weekend of it.
Sidmouth Folk Festival
A week of live music, dance, workshops and events spread throughout Sidmouth. Stay out of the bustle at Forest Edge and head into town whenever you're ready.
Ottery Tar Barrels
One of Devon's most extraordinary traditions. Every November, flaming tar barrels are carried through the streets of Ottery St Mary in front of huge crowds.
Powderham Castle
Powderham hosts major outdoor concerts, festivals, comedy, cinema and events throughout the year. Forest Edge gives you a countryside base when you're heading down for a big event.
Exeter when you want it.
One of the best things about Forest Edge is being able to stay properly out in the countryside without feeling cut off. Exeter gives you a completely different day out — historic streets, shops, restaurants, Exeter Cathedral, the Quayside and plenty to explore before heading back to Forest Edge.
